Contenuti

Programma esteso

1. Introduzione alla Biostatistica
3. Determinazione della dimensione del campione
4 Probabilità e variabili casuali discrete e continue
5. Analisi di sopravvivenza e regressione di Cox e Curve RoC
6. Stima puntuale ed intervallare dei parametri .
8. Correlazione e regressione
9. Propensity Score Matching ed introduzione all'inferenza causale.
10. Sensitivity Analysis and Bias Analysis e Meta-analisi

Contents

The course intends to analyze the statistical methods of greatest interest for Biostatistics. The difference between observational data (most used in economics) and experimental data (most used in medicine) is clarified. The statistical techniques for experimental data in which the researcher is an active subject in their preparation are exposed. Finally, 1-sample, 2-sample, multi-sample inferential problems and finally non-parametric statistics techniques are analysed.

Course objectives

The objectives of the course are to allow students to move with ease to solve biostatistics problems using IT tools such as the R statistical environment and the Python program in order to acquire knowledge fundamental foundations for the Master's degree course in Data Science

Prerequisites

Knowledge of descriptive statistics and basic computer science

Teaching methods

Lectures with slides on the main topics of the course and receptions with the students of the course to prepare the project works

Assessment methods

The final exam consists of two subsequent tests:

1) Prepare and discuss a written paper based on real data from official sources or on a questionnaire created by the student.
The paper must contain a detailed description of the objectives, data and statistical techniques chosen to achieve the objectives and the results obtained; within the project work the student will have to describe the procedure in R or Python with which he arrives at the results of the dataset

2) Oral test having as its object the theoretical aspects covered in the course excluding that carried out within your project work
